Nominated for a Golden Globe in the best foreign film category, this film received 10 Ariel Awards, the Mexican equivalent of the Caesars, and in 1992 became the most profitable Spanish film ever released in the United States. So it’s worth it to watch it.

The main character, Tita, feels devastated and lost because she cannot marry Pedro, the man she loves. When her older sister marries Pedro in her place, Tita must resign herself to living a life of suffering. Following the story of the family over more than twenty years, the film tells the life of different characters through time. You will certainly be touched by their stories, and it will also be an opportunity to learn some vocabulary words in Spanish.

3. El Laberinto del Fauno

Pan’s Labyrinth, it is an excellent film for those who love the fantastic genre infused with horror. Guillermo del Toro, who directed the film in 2006, describes it as «a fairy tale for adults«.

The story takes place in Spain, shortly after the Civil War, in 1944. Ofelia and her mother move to a small town where the girl does not want to live. Co-written and directed by Eugenio Derbez- a very well known comedian in Mexico- in 2013. The film tells the story of Valentin, a man who finds himself obliged to take care of his daughter alone. This suddenly appears in her life, prompting her to find her mother and give him back the baby. Having no choice but to keep his daughter, he decides to raise her up as best she can and take care of her.

5. Diarios de Motocicleta

Inspired by Ernesto «Che» Guevara‘s notebooks, the movie «Diarios de motocicleta» («Travel Diaries«) tells the story of Che’s long journey on motorbikes and his friends across South America. This great adventure, full of encounters and experiences, will forever transform the young Che Guevara and push him to try to change things, until the revolution.

Bebidas tradicionales mexicanas (Mexican drinks)

Por supuesto que al pensar en bebidas tradicionales mexicanas lo primero que viene a tu mente es el tequila y el mezcal. Bueno, hoy vamos a hablar de diferentes bebidas, alcohólicas y no alcohólicas.


El Tejate es una bebida a base de maíz y cacao, originaria del estado de Oaxaca, desde la época prehispánica se usaba en ceremonias y rituales para la siembra y la cosecha, asimismo los reyes zapotecas la consumían.


El Atole es una de las bebidas más populares en México, se elabora con masa de maíz y actualmente también se hace con leche. Su elaboración varía dependiendo de la región y es consumido en todo México y Centroamérica.  En la actualidad podemos encontrarla de muchos sabores como: fresa, vainilla, chocolate, piña, coco, canela, nuez y chocolate. Principalmente, esta bebida es consumida por las mañanas como desayuno, acompañada de un rico tamal o un pan de dulce.


El agua de horchata es una bebida dulce y refrescante hecha de arroz, vainilla, canela y agua, generalmente es muy popular en México y es conocida como “agua fresca”.

Igualmente tenemos el agua de Jamaica, la cual es una infusión hecha de la flor de Jamaica (una flor de color roja).

Asimismo, otra agua fresca es la de tamarindo, elaborada de la fruta del árbol de tamarindo, que de igual manera podemos disfrutarlo en dulce de tamarindo con picante.



El tequila es un destilado que se elabora de la planta de agave azul. Existen alrededor de 295 especies de agaves distintas y sólo una se puede utilizar para producir la bebida, la cual es originaria del municipio de Tequila en el Estado de Jalisco, México. Regularmente los grados de alcohol que posee esta bebida varían entre 37-50 grados.

Con algunos otros agaves de otras especies se elabora el mezcal y el pulque. Tal vez te preguntes cual es la diferencia entre tequila y mezcal, y la más simple es el tipo de maguey utilizado, además de los procesos de elaboración son distintos y esta última es originaria de Estado de Oaxaca.


Por último tenemos al Pulque, una bebida fermentada tradicional de México, elaborada con jarabe de maguey, es de color blanco y viscosa. Posee una historia de más de 2,500 años de antigüedad, en la sociedad azteca el pulque poseía un carácter meramente ritual, por lo que no podía consumirse sino en determinadas fiestas y en algunas de manera restringida, la edad mínima para beber alcohol en esa época era de 52 años.

DULCES MEXICANOS (Mexican Candies)

Debido a la mezcla de culturas, tradiciones y sabores en México podemos encontrar una gran diversidad de dulces típicos que no podemos ignorar. Si eres un amante de la gastronomía mexicana y vienes a México, tienes que probar los dulces típicos mexicanos. Hoy les voy a presentar los dulces más representativos:


Elaboradas con semillas de amaranto, miel, pasas o nueces. El amaranto es originario de México, en la época prehispánica se usaba como moneda y también con fines ceremoniales para los dioses.
